Maralyn J. Long

Maralyn J. Long, 86 of Monroeville passed away peacefully Thursday, March 31, 2022, at her residence.

She was born October 8, 1935, in Neapolis, Ohio.

Maralyn was a 1954 graduate of Sandusky High School. She was a cook in the Monroeville High School cafeteria, retiring in 1995. She had also volunteered as a lunch monitor in the high school cafeteria. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Monroeville, the American Legion Auxiliary, and had volunteered at Fisher Titus Medical Center, Norwalk. Her hobbies include quilting, crocheting, baking and decorating wedding and birthday cakes. She had won many awards at the Huron County Fair for her quilting and cake baking talents.

She is survived by four sons, Donald (Sharon) Long of Norwalk, Douglas (Sue) Long of Monroeville, Gregory (Dianna Case) Long of Norton, Ohio, and Ted (Tracey) Long of Monroeville; one daughter, Elaine (Dustin) Shaver of Monroeville; sixteen grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren; one brother, H. Paul Mettert of Sandusky; a special niece, Kathy Ann (Chuck) Weilnau of Milan, special friend, Debrah Rollyson of Steuben; three sisters-in-law, Laetta Long, Ruth Wilhelm, and Grace (Norb) Stang.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul W. Long, Sr. in 2004, parents, Herman and Ethel (Mumy) Mettert; two sons, Allen Joseph Long in 1956 and Paul W. Long, Jr. in 2018; twin grandchildren, Joshua and Victoria, and another grandchild, Baby B; three sisters, Evelyn Box, Pauline Hartman, and Pat Swanson.

Friends may call from 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm, Sunday, April 3, 2022, in the Pfeil Funeral Home, Monroeville Chapel, 109 Monroe Street, Monroeville. A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 am Monday, April 4, 2022, in the St. Joseph Catholic Church, 66 Chapel Street, Monroeville. Fr. Nick Cunningham and Fr. Chris Jesudhason will officiate. Burial will be in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Monroeville.
