Shirley J. (Hanville) Fackler, 86, of Sandusky passed away peacefully Friday April 8, 2022, in Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky. She was a resident at Commons of Providence.
She was born July 15, 1935, in Sandusky and was a 1953 graduate of Sandusky High School.
Shirley was employed as a secretary with the Perkins Township Board of Education before leaving to become a full-time mother and homemaker.
She was an active member of Columbus Avenue United Methodist Church, where she had taught Sunday school for many years. She also sang for the Firelands Chorus and sang in the church choir. Her hobbies included reading, needle point, and crafts.
She is survived by one son, John Robert (Carmen) Fackler of Shermans Dale, Pennsylvania; three grandsons, August, Isaac, and Elijah Fackler; two sisters, Sue Ellen Galloway, Sandusky, Jo Bierkortte of Parkersburg, West Virginia; one brother, Donald R. (Kim) Hanville of Marblehead; nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John David Fackler in 2009; her parents, Robert and Dorothy (Crooks) Hanville; one sister, Roberta Walter; and one brother-in-law, Tom Galloway.
Friends may call from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm Tuesday, April 12, 2022, in the Pfeil Funeral Home, Sandusky Chapel, 617 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky and from 9:30 am until time of service at 10:30 am Wednesday, April 13, 2022, in the Columbus Avenue United Methodist Church, 2401 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky, Ohio 44870. Pastor Erin Porter will officiate. Burial will be in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Memorial Fund Columbus Avenue United Methodist Church, or the Stein Hospice Service, 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, Ohio 44870.
