Dona Jean Harmon 81, Huron, passed away peacefully on April 25, 2022 with her loving husband of 53 years by her side. Dona was born on May 7, 1940 in Bristol Connecticut.
Dona was a devout Christian, who found comfort in our Lord. She could be found in the congregation of Zion Lutheran Church in Huron every Sunday either in person or virtually.
Dona was passionate about her career as a teacher. She had a Master's Degree in Early Education and was a teacher for over 30 years retiring from Huron Public Schools and winning several awards.
During her long and happy life she was an avid animal lover who enjoyed skiing, swimming and traveling with her husband, Gary Harmon.
Dona and Gary met in 1968 and were married later that year.
Dona leaves behind her devoted husband, Gary Harmon; her sister, Lynn Maillard; her children, Jennifer (Charles) Capizzi and Justin Harmon; her beloved grandchildren, CJ & Cassidy Capizzi; niece, Liz Maillard; and nephews, Timothy & Gordon Gurske.
Dona is preceded in death by her parents, Adelaide and Hubert Gurske; her mother-in-law, Juanita Harmon; her brother, Larry Gurske; and her daughter, Lauren Harmon.
At Dona's request cremation has taken place. Friends may call on Friday, April 29, 2022, from 10 A.M. until time of memorial services at 11 A.M. in Zion Lutheran Church, 930 S. Main St., Huron. Rev. Kris Schroeder will officiate. Burial will follow in Scott Cemetery.
