Mildred Gant, 99, of Sandusky, OH, died Sunday morning, April 24, 2022 in the Providence Care Center, Sandusky.
She was born March 29, 1923, to Eugene and Minnie (Bench) Glass, in Slicksville, PA, and lived in Castalia with her husband Herman until her children graduated from Margaretta High School.
She was employed in social service with CAC for over 10 years. She was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church; the Busy Bee Circle; American Legion Auxiliary; and the Thomas Neill Relief Corps. Mildred also supported the Herman Gant Scholarship Award every year, which is an award given out to the top academic athlete from Margaretta High School each year in honor of Mildred's son Herman Gant.
Mildred is survived by two grandchildren Mileasa (Jason) Rollison, Sandusky, and Kevin Buress, Portland OR,; four great grandchildren Raygene Skrinak, Morgan Rollison, Jazmin Rollison, and Quinten Ramsey-Buress; one great-great granddaughter Jaleasa Sims; many nieces and nephews; including Darrell Gant and Chuck Coleman, who took special care of Mildred for many years.
She was preceded in death by her husband Herman; daughter Patsy Buress; son Herman Gant Jr., who was killed in Vietnam while serving during the war; parents Eugene and Minnie Glass; sister Inez Jerrett; and brothers Albert Elis, Saul Elis, Richard Coleman, Robert, Arthur, Edward, and Earl Elis, and Starling Coleman.
Friends may call from 10 AM until time of services at 12:00 Noon, Saturday, April 30, 2022, at Ebenezer Baptist Church, 1215 Pierce Street, Sandusky. Pastor Clayton E. Howard will officiate. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery, Sandusky. Ransom Funeral and Cremation Service, Castalia, is in charge of arrangements.
