Ralph Mario Chicotel
February 4, 1961 - May 13, 2022
Ralph Mario Chicotel, 61, residing in Huron, went to be with the Lord Friday, May 13, 2022 at his home surrounded by his family, after a lengthy battle with COPD.
Ralph was born on February 4, 1961 in Norwalk, OH to the late Ralph Guy and Antoinette Lucille (DeFazio) Chicotel.
Ralph graduated from Huron High School in 1979. He met his future wife, Nan Chicotel, while attending the University of Toledo and received his Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science from Bowling Green State University. Ralph was a computer programmer and analyst by trade, working at Citizens Bank, Macy's Data Center, and retiring from Farmers Savings Bank as the Controller and Security Officer. He surrendered his life to the Lord in 2000 and started attending The Chapel in Sandusky and then Open Door Church in Vermilion.
Ralph was a family man above all else. He cherished every moment spent with his wife, children, and especially his grandchildren. He was a friend to many who would tell you that he will be remembered for his quirky sense of humor, quick wit, good advice, and friendly competitive nature.
Over Ralph's lifetime, he had many hobbies and was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed golfing and took many golf trips to Myrtle Beach with lifelong friends. Ralph and Nan started Huron's coed softball league. He enjoyed model building, especially model airplanes. Ralph passed to his children his love of the outdoors including long hikes in the woods, fishing, boating, and growing a big garden of vegetables. He loved storm chasing and taking long drives through the countryside after a trip to Pied Piper for a nut dip. Later in life, Ralph treated himself to his dream car, which is a white MG affectionately named "Gracie".
Ralph is survived by his wife, Nancy Lynn (Price) Chicotel, whom he married on December 29, 1984; daughter, Amanda (Eric) Elia of Seven Hills, OH; son, Christopher (Leah) Chicotel of Collins, OH; grandchildren, Ellie Rose, James Mario, Domenica GraceLynn, and one more on the way; sister, Donna (Danny) Kidd of Huron; brother, Danny Ralph (Beverly) Chicotel of Findlay, OH; faithful pug companion Theo; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Friends may call on Friday, May 20th, 2022 from 3:00 pm until 5:00pm. At 5:00pm there will be a Celebration of Life Service. Both events will be at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E. Perkins Ave, Sandusky. Pastors John Adams and John Jacobs will be presiding.
Those wishing to contribute to Ralph's memory may do so to OHgo 3616 Plumbrook Circle, Sandusky, OH 44870.
