Linda Louise (Biechele) Mitchell

Linda Louise (Biechele) Mitchell, 78, of Sandusky, passed away on Thursday, May 19, 2022, in Stein Hospice Care Center after a brief illness.

She was born in Sandusky on July 18, 1943 to Dallas and Mary (Michelson) Biechele, and was a life-long resident of Sandusky.

Linda was the Executive Director of Safe Harbour Domestic Violence Shelter, where she worked since October 1991. She was well known and respected for serving the community and for her dedicated efforts advocating for victims of domestic violence. Prior to that, she was the President of Ace Motor Transport Company (1976-1991). During her long career, she was a member of the Sandusky Business and Professional Women's Club, the American Trucking Association, and an Associate Member of the Fraternal Order of Police.

Linda, known as "Nino" to her family and close friends, is survived by her husband and best friend, William Knowlton; children, Marci Lynn Corwin and Mary (Tony) Morshed; stepsons, Lance and Eric Knowlton; grandchildren, Holly Blanton, Deidre Corwin, Joe (Dorothy) Corwin, Dietrich Harter, Jackie (Jeffrey Lehman) Corwin, Dutch Harter, Janna Harter, Isabella Johnson, John Paul Sebastian Johnson, and Bimah Mitchell; and seven great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Barbara Tuemler; brother, Douglas "Duke" (Ann) Biechele; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, John William Mitchell Jr.; husband, John William Mitchell; and brother, Dallas John Biechele.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 4, 2022 at Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. A luncheon will be served in the Event Room at Toft immediately following. Burial will take place in Perkins Cemetery.

The family requests donations be made in Linda's name to Safe Harbour Domestic Violence Shelter in lieu of flowers.
