Ralph Plumb
July 10, 1952 - May 26, 2022
Ralph Plumb was born on July 10, 1952 in Cleveland, OH to the late Evelyn and Robert Plumb.
He graduated with the summer class of 1970 at Rhodes High School. Shortly after graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam. He earned a Bronze Star for Valor and an Army Commendation Medal for Heroism. His time in the army had an extreme impact in his life. He was eventually diagnosed with PTSD along with Agent Orange exposure.
He lived most of his life in Cleveland and worked as a truck driver and a Cartage agent under the name R.P. Delivery. Following a treatment/residential stay at Ohio Veterans Home, he spent the rest of his life in Sandusky. He was a member of the American Legion and VFW and had developed friendships at Excuses Lounge as well as the Lake Wilmer Inn. Ralph died at Stein Hospice on May 26,2022 after struggling with cancer.
In addition to his parents and step-parents, Ralph was preceded in death by his son, Scott Robert Plumb on July 5, 2019 as well as his brother, Harold Thomas Mitchell in 1990. Also preceding him in death were his step-brothers, Robert Behney, Michael Behney and step-sister, Kristina Johnson.
Ralph is survived by his daughters, Linda Collins and Chelsea Garcia; sisters, Leona Rigo, Elizabeth Root, Jane Yarina; step-sisters, Michelle McNamara and Kim Greathouse. He is also survived by his brothers, Dan Plumb and Brian Mitchell; step-brothers, Ralph and James Mitchell and Michael Greathouse; granddaughters, Isabella and Ava and grandsons, Brandon, Max, Logan and Cameron.
A private family graveside service will be held on Thursday, June 16, 2022 at 10:45 am at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, 10175 Rawiga Rd., Seville, OH. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 18, 2022 at 4:00 pm at 7766 Baumhart Rd., Amherst, OH. Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.
