Judith Ann "Judy" (Sprankel) Dute, 77, of Norwalk, passed away after a brief fight with cancer on Friday, June 3, 2022 at Firelands Regional Medical Center.
She was born on October 30, 1944 in Sandusky to the late Nelson and the late Verna (Sprowl) Sprankel.
The epitome of the word homemaker, Judy put all her heart into caring for her family and making a loving home. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, painting, flowers, butterflies, and all that nature had to offer. Her caring heart led her to always care for others. Her home was a haven to anyone in need.
As Judy's family recounts, "Judy is the reason I'll never judge a scowl. Although she grew up on a farm and demonstrated a tough exterior, Judy cared deeply about her family and loved ones. She wanted us to be our very best and she showed up to support day in and day out.
She took pride in creating a loving home whether that was through cooking, baking, painting, sewing, gardening, or being there to listen to you vent. My favorite piece of advice she lived by was, ‘if you're going to do something, you should give it all your effort, and if you fail, you can say you tried your best.'"
Judy is survived by her loving husband, Raymond D. Dute, whom she married on October 20, 1962; children, Jeffrey Allen (Teresa Baker) Dute and Rae Diane Price; grandchildren, Rachel (William, Jr.) Massie, Jacob (Sarah Semones) Dute, and Morgan, Madison, and Marley Price; sister, Janet; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Jerry.
One of the most treasured lessons she gave her family was how to love and take care of each other, no matter what. She will be deeply missed.
Private family services and cremation will take place.
Memorial contributions may be made in Judy's name to Catholic Charities of Sandusky, 428 Tiffin Ave., Sandusky, OH 44870.
