Rita J. Hohler

Rita J. Hohler, 87, of Berlin Heights, Ohio passed away Monday evening June 20, 2022, in the Fisher-Titus Medical Center, Norwalk.

She was born September 4, 1934, in Norwalk, Ohio.

Rita attended St. Paul's School in Norwalk and was a 1952 graduate of Huron High School.

She retired from the Sandusky Register, where she had worked in the circulation department. Prior to this, Rita and her husband Joe owned and operated the Bay Bell Grocery and Bait Store in Bay View for many years. She had also worked at the former New Departure-Hyatt, Division of General Motors.

Rita was a founding member and past president of the Firelands Doll Club. She was also a member of the Port Clinton Artist Club, the Port Clinton Women's Club, and was a former boy scout leader. Rita loved to dance, sing, listen to karaoke and attend theatre productions. She always looked forward to visiting family, friends, and staying in touch with her siblings.

She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Joseph C. Hohler; her children, Joseph M. Hohler of Bellevue, Lisette (Kenneth) Post of Fremont, Stephen W. Hohler of Berlin Heights, and Gerald E. (Kelly) Hohler of Bailey Lakes, Ohio; three grandchildren, Elizabeth, Sophia, and Theodore Hohler; seven siblings, Mary Kline, Lois Withrow, Dorothy Hottenroth, John Landoll, James Landoll, Fred Wagner IV, and Angela Cook; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by two children, Michelle Hohler and Wayne Hohler; her mother and stepfather, Mary (Miller) and Frederick Wagner III; her father, John Landoll; and one brother, Phillip Landoll.

Friends may call from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm Friday, June 24, 2022, in the Pfeil Funeral Home, Monroeville Chapel, 109 Monroe Street, Monroeville, Ohio. Family and friends can also pay their respects from 11:00 am until time of service at 12:00 pm Saturday, June 25, 2022, in the funeral home. Rev. Dr. Wayne Chasney will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Monroeville.
