Howard J. Healey

Howard J. Healey age 88 of Bellevue passed away Sunday, March 4, 2012 at The Bellevue Hospital. He was born on March 23, 1923, in Irvington, New Jersey, the son of William J. and Luella (Westfal) Healey.

He was married to the former Patricia Phelan on November 15, 1946. He was a graduate of Glen Ridge High School in Glen Ridge, New Jersey, and attended Virginia Polytechnic Institute. Howard served in the US Army during WWII and was the recipient of the Purple Heart with a cluster, as well as a Bronze Star and Silver Star. He was employed by Western Union Telegraph Company, New York City, in 1945 and retired in 1979 as Director of Budgets and Administration for the Engineering Department.

He was a former member of the Glen Ridge Congregational Church and was a member of the Kiwanis Club of Glen Ridge.

Howard was a member of the Elks Lodge, Bellevue, and a member of the Bellevue Lions Club for 21+ years. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Bellevue, and a member of its Church Council.

He is survived by his daughter Holly (Charles W.) Gildenmeister of Bellevue, and a son, H. John Healey of Apex, North Carolina, four grandchildren, Summer (Michael) Boehm, Brittan (Michael) Grote, Kristen Healey, Michael Healey and her great granddaughter, Avery Elizabeth Boehm. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, in 2011, and two brothers, William E. Healey and Donald Healey.

Friends will be received Friday, March 9, 2012 from 9:00 am until service time at 10:00 a.m. at Foos and Foos Funeral Service, 151 Yorkshire Place, Bellevue, OH. Burial will be in Glen Ridge Congregational Church Garden of Memory, Glen Ridge, NJ.
