Billy C. Pounders, 83, of Sandusky, passed away Thursday morning, Sept. 29, 2022, at Firelands Regional Medical Center, Sandusky, following a brief illness.
He was born April 21, 1939, in Mississippi and graduated from Hatley High School, Hatley, Mississippi.
Billy proudly served in U.S. Army and was a member of Wayside Temple, Castalia. He worked for Christian Faith Broadcasting, Castalia, where he was a radio announcer for WLRD. Billy enjoyed spending time with his family and loved watching his grandsons in all their sporting events and other activities, but most of all he loved being their "Pop-Pop."
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Edie (Kiser) Pounders; daughter, Davida (Tony) Sosa; grandsons, Clayton and Cameron Sosa; sisters, Audrey (Barney) Vann of Mississippi and and Janette (Jerry) Cooper of Mississippi; and several nieces and nephews.
Billy was preceded in death by his parents, Aubrey and Irene (Taylor) Pounders.
Friends may call 9:30 a.m. until the time of Billy's services at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2022, at Wayside Temple, 3809 Maple Ave., Castalia. Pastor Rusty Yost will officiate. Entombment will be at Castalia Cemetery. Ransom Funeral & Cremation Service, Castalia, is in charge of arrangements.
