Robert C. “Cowboy” Meisler, 91, Huron, died on Wednesday, March 7, 2012 in Firelands Regional Medical Center, Sandusky.
He was born on February 27, 1921 in Sandusky, Ohio. He graduated from Sandusky High School.
In his younger years, he worked for the railroad, and then became involved in the family business, Toft Dairy, where he was owner and former vice-president of the company. He retired in 1986, but continued to be active in the business until the age of 86.
Bob was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Sandusky. He was a member of the former I.A.B. Club where he played in the bocce leagues, the American Legion Post 83, Sandusky, Paramount Bowling League, and Lutheran Dartball – Zion 5. He was an avid fan of Cleveland sports teams, and loved gardening and working in the yard. He was a practical joker and was known for his “YMCA” dance.
Bob is survived by his daughter, Judith A. “Judy” Meisler, Huron; brothers, Eugene (Babs) Meisler, Catawba Island, OH, and Thomas (Colleen) Meisler, Castalia; sister-in-law, Marilyn Meisler, Sandusky; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Iola C. Meisler, on October 11, 1996; his parents, Carl and Edna (Toft) Meisler; and brothers, Donald Meisler, and Russ Meisler.
Friends may call on Friday, March 9, 2012 from 4 – 8 PM in Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Friends may also call on Saturday from 10 AM until time of services at 11 AM in the funeral home. Rev. John Mawhirter of Zion Lutheran Church will officiate. Burial will be in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
