Richard Harold Boehler

Richard Harold Boehler of Monroeville departed his earthly home to eternity on November 8, 2022, at the age of 95. He lived a long, wonderful life and will be greatly missed.

He was born September 16, 1927, to parents, Harold and Gertrude Boehler in Monroe, Michigan.

Richard attended Monroeville Schools until eighth grade, when he was asked to help support the family working on the farm. At the age of 17, he answered the call to defend his country and joined the Army. He served primarily in Occupied, Japan. Upon returning to Norwalk, Ohio, he worked as a truck driver and on October 30, 1948, he married the love of his life, Evelyn Romell and together they raised five children. One of the highlights of growing up in the Boehler family was raising and training horses for competition.

Richard retired from the Monroeville Schools after several years as custodian. He was known for his gentle, generous, and loving spirit. He always had a smile and a hug for everyone he met. Richard loved spending time with his family, traveling, camping, fishing, playing cards, watching westerns, attending church, and helping others. He would randomly break out into songs of his own making, which we can still hear in our hearts.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Monroeville, and the American Legion Post 547, Monroeville.
He is survived by his daughters, Linda Wangler of Monroeville, and Sally (Jeff) Arnold of Bakersfield, CA; his son, Brad (Tammy) Boehler of Windsor, CO; two sisters, Shirley Brown of Nevada, OH and Jean Fitzgerald of Monroeville; six grandchildren, seven great grandchildren; numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Boehler; his parents, two sons, Bruce, and Brian Boehler; son-in-law, Donald Wangler; and two sisters, Arnita Meyer and Dorothy Truman.

Please join the family to remember and celebrate Richard's life on Monday, November 14, 2022, from 5:30 pm - 8:00 pm at the Pfeil Funeral Home, Monroeville Chapel, 109 Monroe Street, Monroeville. There will also be a time of remembrance on Tuesday, November 15, 2022, from 10:00 am until time of service at 11:00 am in the Trinity Lutheran Church, 121 W. Broad Street, Monroeville, Ohio 44847. Rev. Dan Pennington will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church or SouthernCare Hospice Services, 9501 US Highway 250 N., Suite 2, Milan, Ohio 44846.
