Donald Francis Graves, 97, residing in Sandusky, passed away early Friday morning, November 11, 2022 at his home.
Don was born on May 7, 1925 in Sandusky, OH to the late Francis Marion Graves and Fanny Davis (Newman) Graves.
Don was a Veteran of the US Navy whom proudly served his country during WWII on the USS Charles Ausburne in the Pacific Theatre. He had previously been employed at Nicholas Equipment in Sandusky and owned and operated Graves Transmission Wholesale Service. He enjoyed researching his family genealogy, camping in Mohican, listening to CB radio, playing his guitar and banjo and spending time with his family and friends.
Don is survived by his daughter, Daria (Vincent) Deno of Sandusky; sons, Mark (Mary) Graves of Huron and Gary Graves of Sandusky; four grandchildren, Vincent "Joe" Deno, Gina Deno, Billy Graves and Brittany Schlessman; four great-grandchildren and the 5th on the way and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
In addition to his parents, Don is preceded in death by his wife, Jean (Trumpower) Graves on August 28, 2022; sisters, Doris Speir, Ellen Garner, Ann Hill and Patricia Smith and brothers, Kenneth and Clarence Graves.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Burial will take place in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron. Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.
