Joseph L. Chaney, 71, Sandusky, departed this life on Friday, March 9, 2012, in Stein Hospice Care Center, after a lengthy illness.
He was born on December 10, 1940 in Meridian, MS, to Will and Ilean Chaney.
He was employed by J.H. Routh Packing for 34 years.
Joe was a faithful member of the Eagles Nest Church, Sandusky, under the leadership of Pastor Darrell Gant. He loved to fish, garden, and work in his yard.
Joe leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 36 years, Diane (McGill) Chaney; sons, Lamar Chaney and Jerod McGill-Chaney, both of Sandusky, and Michael Chaney, Decatur, IL; daughters, Kim Taylor, Joann Chaney, and Kataris Chaney, all of Sandusky, Latrice (Cupp) Chaney and Angie Chaney, both of Decatur, IL; 25 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sisters, Linda (Anthony) Clark, Sandusky and Marilyn (Keith) Bonipart, Las Vegas, NV; brothers, Greg Chaney and Ray Chaney, both of Sandusky; special aunts, Nettie Johnson, Meridian, MS, Mary Amison and Louise Pettigrew, both of Sandusky; special cousin, Eddie (Bo) Fischer; special friends, Lewis Page, Selma Moore, and Clint Scott; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Rzell Chaney.
Friends may call on Friday, March 16, 2012, from 11 A.M. until time of funeral services at 1 P.M. in Providence Missionary Baptist Church, 224 Dixie Ave., Sandusky. Rev. Scottie Aaron will officiate. Burial will be in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron. Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky is assisting the family with arrangements.
