Gene E. Delp, 95, residing in Castalia, passed away Saturday afternoon, December 10, 2022 at Stein Hospice Care Center after a brief illness.
Gene was born on September 23, 1927 in Lego, WV to the late Clarence and Sally (McKinney) Delp.
Gene graduated from Montgomery High School in 1945. He was a Veteran of the Merchant Marines and U.S. Coast Guard who proudly served his country during WWII. He was employed at Ford Motor Company for 28 years. Gene was a member of Church of God, American Legion Post 83, and Sandusky Masonic Temple Science Lodge #50 F&AM. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping.
Gene is survived by his daughter, Marlene Maria Delp of Castalia and sons, Mark Wayne Delp of Dayton, OH, and Matt (Kristin) Delp of Canal Winchester, OH; 6 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Gene is preceded in death by wife, Erna (Sarahlene) Delp; second wife, Audrey Gadoury and his brothers and sisters
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 17, 2022 at 11:00AM at The Meadow Green Memorial Park Mausoleum, 2602 Bogart Rd. Huron. Pastor Wally Gilbert will officiate. Entombment will follow. Groff Funeral Homes and Crematory is assisting the family.
