Dale Robert Yearick

Dale Robert Yearick of Bellevue, OH, after 95 spirited years passed away peacefully in his sleep on December 12, 2022. An unwavering family man, he was predeceased by his wife, Gerrie, son, Paul Henry, and son-in-law, Paul Nordstrom. His life was joyfully filled by them as well as his three surviving children, Kathleen (K), Susan, and William (Kit) Henry and their spouses, 9 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren.

A graduate of Bellevue High School, he enlisted in the Navy immediately following his 18th birthday. After an honorable discharge in 1946, he completed a BS from Ohio State University. Embracing his family's lifelong love of cars, he began working for his father's Overmyer-Ball Motor Co, and became president and 49% share-holder by May 1962.That year he met Gerrie and her 4 children and his fate was sealed. He wholeheartedly embraced the family, marrying Gerrie in April of 1963, and instantly assumed the role of steadfast father that he continued to be for the next 59 years.

Alongside his occupational pursuits, including the development of Firelands Motor Company and the ownership of the only international Delorean dealership, he could routinely be found piling all of the children, as well as many of their neighborhood friends into the van for some wayward adventure. He had a soft spot for children, and for assisting them in their fun and endeavors.

Never one to have a propensity for free time, he was also a long time member of the Freemasons, Catawba Island Club, and Sandusky Yacht Club as well as the secretary and the president of the Northern Ohio Car Dealers Association.

Upon Retirement from the car dealership, he took a job with Woodard Photographic where he assisted them in the office and with on-location photography for a number of years.

Dale was a reserved man with a passion for travel and an enthusiasm for lifelong learning. After caring for Gerrie throughout her final years, he returned to school to pursue nursing, culminating in many years of volunteer service with hospice.

For his 70th birthday his children gave him a bicycle, sparking yet a new chapter in his life. He joined Silver Wheels Bike Club in Huron, and would routinely bike 50+ miles, 6 days a week.

After moving to Florida fulltime in 2014, he spent the remainder of his retirement going on biking tours and traveling the world. Between the ages of 70 and 93 he visited over 50 countries and went on many cruises world wide.

Dale maintained his cognitive vigor, love for reading, passion for dancing, appreciation for playing cards, as well as his drivers license and devotion to fancy cars until the day he died. There is no spirit big enough to fill the void he will leave in our hearts.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to either livestrong.org or steinhospice.org, both organizations that were very dear to his heart.
