On March 30, 1949, in Annapolis, Maryland, he was born to the now deceased, Frances (Ford) and George Boley.

As a young man, he was known as "John, the Drifter" when he was singing at establishments, such as the Log Cabin.
Mr. Boley was a member of the Clyde and Fremont Moose Lodge, as well as a lifetime member of the Fremont VFW.
He enjoyed karaoke and metal detecting. In his younger years, he liked to go crabbing. But mostly, he enjoyed his family, his children and grandchildren brought him pure enjoyment.
Survivors include four children, Gina (Don) Wray of Maumee; Randall Boley of Tiffin; Ashley Camera of Bellevue and Sarah Rice of Bellevue. A step-daughter, Cary Gallegos of Mishawaka, Indiana, along with his sister, Linda Collins also survive. Twenty one grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren survive as well.
