Lynda S. (Smith) Black, 77, residing in Sandusky, passed away Monday, January 2, 2023 at home after a lengthy illness.
Lynda was born on May 3, 1945 in Sandusky, OH to the late Elwood L. and Florence H. (Elmer) Smith.
Lynda attended Sandusky High School. She worked for many years at Whirlpool in Clyde, before moving to California where she worked for over 25 years at Hughes Aircraft as a circuit board assembler for NASA. Lynda was a member of NorthPointe Baptist Church. She was a dedicated wife and homemaker, and loved spending time with her family traveling, camping and fishing. She took pride in her cooking, and will be lovingly remembered for her delicious spaghetti. In her spare time, she enjoyed arts and crafts, especially painting, ceramics, and jewelry making.
Lynda is survived by her five children, Suzanne (Absher) Carter, Paul Absher, Amy (Absher) Palm, James "Jimmy" Absher, and Tonya Black; 21 grandchildren, Felicia, Summer (Andy), Larry, Jonathan, Adam, Paul Jr., Wendy, Wesley, Joshua, Monica, Stephanie, Felicity, Evan, Janiyah, Jamarion, Darnella, Darlena, Darnell Jr., Tamyes, Donté, and Marquel; 27 great-grandchildren; one sister, Rebecca (Melvin) Ott; one brother, Tom (Sheila) Smith; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, Lynda is preceded in death by her husband, McKinley "Joe" Black Jr.; son, McKinley "Joey" Black III; infant brother, Charles "Chipper" Smith.
Cremation will take place, and there will be no services. Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.
