Audrey A. (nee Stieber) Houck, 88, of Monroeville, died Thursday, Jan. 5, at Dublin Methodist Hospital in Dublin, Ohio.
She was born on May 20, 1934 in Norwalk and was a lifelong resident of the area.
Houck attended Monroeville Local Schools and graduated as class valedictorian in 1952. She attended Bowling Green State University and worked at the Norwalk Truck Line before marrying Clayton Houck in 1957. She managed the books for the family farm over the years.
Houck enjoyed international travel, both with her husband Clayton and, following his death, with family members and friends. She visited six of the seven continents during her life. She also enjoyed playing cards with friends, cheering on the Cleveland Indians/Guardians and reading. Her lifelong love of reading led to her volunteer work on behalf of the expansion of the Monroeville Public Library. Houck moved to Columbus in 2015 to be closer to her children.
She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Monroeville.
Houck was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Clayton Houck, her daughter Yvonne Lesicko, and her sister Lynne (nee Stieber) DeSchaine. She is survived by daughters Annette Houck and Janene (Chris) Kehl, son Larry Houck, and son-in-law Scott Lesicko; three grandsons, Nick Kehl, Owen Kehl and Oscar Lesicko; and brother Dave Stieber and sister Sharon Rennecker. She was preceded in death by her parents Theodore Stieber and Mildred (nee Eberly) Stieber and a granddaughter, Agatha Lesicko.
Friends may call from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, January 8, 2023, at Walker Eastman Heydinger Funeral Home, 98 W. Main St., in Norwalk. The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, January 9, 2023, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Monroeville. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
