Dr. Harry August Currier, age 91, of Annandale, VA and formerly of Norwalk, died Monday, March 19, 2012 at Leewood Nursing Center, Annandale, Virginia after an extended illness.

He was born December 20, 1920 in Elyria, OH to the late Harry M. and Ida Marie (Ahlfanger) Currier. He was a 1941 graduate of Willard High School, served in the US Navy for six years during WWII, attended the University of Cincinnati from 1948 - 1950 studying pre-medicine, was a 1953 graduate of the Texas Chiropractic College in San Antonio, TX and served a year's internship in Denver, CO. In 1954 he began his career as a chiropractor in Kenton, Ohio and moved to Norwalk in 1958 where he practiced for 45 years. He was a member of the American Legion, Norwalk VFW Post 2743, Monroeville Roby Lodge #534 and was a 32-Degree Mason.

He is survived by his children, Deborah (Currier) Hughes of Lorton, VA; step-daughter, Jeri Jeffers of Milan; step-son, Gale Gilbert of Monroeville; five step-grandchildren; 11 step great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild, and one niece.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Elinor Jones in 1978 and his second wife Beryl (Gantz) Gilbert in 1986; one sister, Kathryn Denham in 1975, Robert J. Currier in 2011, and a step-grandson also in 1986.

Friends may call on Thursday, March 22, 2012 from 5:00 - 7:00 P.M. at the Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk. A funeral service will be held Friday at 11:00 A.M. at the Milan Baptist Church, 5199 Old State Road, Milan with the Rev. Rod Hollen officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Norwalk.
