Robert I. Coulon Sr., age 95, of Kelleys Island, passed away Tuesday morning, January 17, 2023, in his home, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born November 4, 1927, in Clinton Township, MI, and graduated from Lakeshore High School in St. Clair Shores, MI.

Robert completed his undergraduate work from Michigan State University and earned his Law degree from University of Detroit. On June 6, 1953, Robert married his beloved Helene Himmelein, and they were together for 40 years, until her death on September 4, 1993. He was a member of the State Bar of Michigan and worked as The Friend of the Court of Macomb County, MI, for 32 years. He was a member of the Kelleys Island Zion United Methodist Church, Kelleys Island Historical Association, former president of the Kelleys Island Landowners Association, and the Mt. Clemens Rotary Club. Bob loved spending time with his family and staying informed with all of his grandchildren's lives. In 1976, he and Helene undertook the renovation of her family's 117-year old home, the Himmelein House, on Kelleys Island. For over 50 years, he loved sitting on his front porch with a good book or a 4:00 martini in hand.

He is survived by his daughter Marcy (Michael Sr.) Mielke; son Robert (Ann) Coulon Jr.; grandchildren Marlana (Justin) Monak, Michael (Mariya) Mielke Jr., Mallory (Harris) Eide, and Robert (Kyrsten) Coulon III; great grandson Brandon Coulon.

Robert was preceded in death by his wife Helene (Himmelein) Coulon; parents Irving and Elvira (Schultz) Coulon; sister Joan Lowe; and numerous close relatives.

Friends may call from 4-7 PM Friday, January 20, 2023, at Ransom Funeral & Cremation Service, 610 S. Washington St., Castalia. A memorial service and burial will be held at a later date on Kelleys Island.
