Katherine "Kay" A. Ortner, age 64, of Norwalk died Sunday, March 18, 2012 at Fisher-Titus Medical Center.
She was born April 26, 1947 in Sandusky to the late LeRoy and Elizabeth (O'Brien) Meyer. She was a graduate of Perkins High School, Mary Manse College in Toledo and attended Bowling Green State University. She was a former teacher at Perkins and Norwalk Daycare, volunteered for ACES, Tupperware sales and also worked at Clancy's . She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Norwalk and enjoyed crafts, candy, word puzzles, crocheting, cross-stitch, computer games, her Dachshund dog and especially spending time with her granddaughters and numerous adopted grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter, Reva Sue (Mark Braden) Ortner of Norwalk; son, Michael Bradley (Nykkytta Mankin) Ortner of Berlin Heights; granddaughters, Ashley Ortner and Paige Ortner; grandson, Keegan O'Brien; step-daughter, Laura Hutchinson.
She was preceded in death by her half-sister, Deborah Meyer.
Friends may call Saturday, March 31, 2012 from 11:00 A.M. until time of service at 12:00 Noon in the Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk. The Rev. Gary C. Streiff, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Sandusky.
