Homer L. Justice

Homer L. Justice, 91, of Bellevue, died Thursday, February 2, 2023 at the Stein Inpatient Unit in Sandusky.

He was born May 31, 1931 in Williamson, West Virginia to Rell & Mariah (Jordan) Justice.

Homer graduated from Williamson High School in 1948. He went on to serve our country in the US Army during the Korean War, with the 53rd Medical Detachment Helicopter Ambulance. This was the first helicopter evacuation unit (M.A.S.H) formed in the US for the purpose of evacuating casualties from the battlefield.

Homer worked for the NS Railroad until his retirement in 1987. He was a member of the American Legion Post 83 in Sandusky and The Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels.

Mr. Justice was very active in the Masonic Community. Through his service, he was a member of Perseverance Lodge #329 in Sandusky; Bellevue Lodge #273 in Bellevue; Roby Lodge #534 in Monroeville; and an honorary member of Mt Vernon Lodge #64 in Norwalk; Fostoria Lodge #288 in Fostoria; Marks Lodge #359 in Huron; Ely Lodge #424 in Vermilion; Science Lodge #50 in Sandusky; Monticello Lodge #244 in Clyde; Attica Lodge #367 in Attica; Rush Lodge of Confidence in Rush, Kentucky; Pelee Lodge #627 in Pelee Island, Ontario, Canada; Sandusky City Chapter #72 of the Royal Arch Masons in Sandusky; Sandusky City Council #26 of the Royal and Select Masons of Sandusky; A.A.S.R. Valley of Toledo; Huron County Scottish Rite Association; and the Order of the Eastern Star, Althea Chapter #438 in Monroeville. Throughout the years, Mr. Justice had also served as the Past District Deputy of the 16th Masonic District and Past President of the Sandusky High Twelve Club #175.

On February 24, 1951 he married Betty J. (Brooks) and she survives. Also surviving are their sons: Steven (Karen) Justice of Bellevue and Kenneth Justice of Georgia; grandchildren: Sierra Justice of Atlanta, Georgia; Collin Justice of San Diego, California; Shane Justice of Cleveland; two great-grandchildren, Bronson and Sasha Justice; and his brother, Jim Justice of Melbourne, Florida.

Visitation will be 3:00-7:30pm Sunday, February 5, 2023 at the Auxter Funeral Home, 1105 Castalia St, Bellevue. Masonic Services will be 7:30pm Sunday at the funeral home. His funeral service will be 10:30am Monday, February 6 at the funeral home with Pastor Gary McElfresh officiating. Burial will follow in Bellevue City Cemetery. Military graveside services will be provided by the Bellevue American Legion, VFW, and Marine Corps League.

Memorial contributions may be given to Shriners Hospitals for Children.
