Ralph E. Swartz, 89, of Bellevue passed away Friday, February 3, 2023 at The Willows at Bellevue.
He was born September 26, 1933 in Fremont, Ohio the son of Kenwood and Geraldine (Farnsworth) Swartz. He married Joan Swartz in 1978, and she survives.
He was a 1951 graduate of York High School, and spent most of his years in Bellevue, Ohio and Naples, Florida. He was a businessman in both cities with a career in Insurance and Real Estate. In Bellevue, he was the former owner/President of Ralph E. Swartz, Real Estate and Hasselbach & Paul Insurance Agency. In Naples, he and his wife owned Silver Sands Motel and Ralph E. Swartz Real Estate Agency, and in 1990 he purchased Silver Sands Resort in Sebring, FL before retiring in 1995.
Being active in community affairs, he was President of the Huron County Board of Realtors in 1977. Local board "Realtor of The Year" in 1977, Member of Erie County Life Insurance Underwriters, Bellevue Area Chamber of Commerce Member/Director, Bellevue Rotary Club Member/Director, Bellevue Elks Club 50 Year Member, Bellevue Club Amer-Ital, Bellevue Masonic Lodge #273 - 50 year member, The Valley of Toledo Scottish Rite, Fremont Country Club, Catawba Island Club, Naples Area Board of Realtors, Naples Chamber of Commerce, and The Pelican Bay Country Club of Naples. He served as a Deacon of Community Congregation U.C.C. of Naples, Fl and a current member of First United Methodist Church, Bellevue.
He is survived by his wife, Joan, two sons, Michael (Sharon) Swartz of Sebastian, Florida and Mark (Jayne) Swartz of Clyde; 4 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; 5 step children; 11 step grandchildren; and 19 step great grandchildren.
A funeral service will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, February 7 at First United Methodist Church, 901 Northwest Street, Bellevue. Burial will follow at York Chapel Cemetery. Following his committal service a luncheon will be held at First United Methodist Church, all are invited. Foos & Foos Funeral Service is in care of arrangements.
