Bernard G. "Bernie" Saylor, 66, of Sandusky, passed away peacefully with his wife by his side, at Stein Hospice February 4, 2023, after a brief and challenging battle with cancer. He was a beloved husband, father, papa, brother, son, uncle & friend.
He was born September 3, 1956, in Sandusky, to the late John & Barbara (McCourt) Saylor.
Bernie was a 1975 graduate of Margaretta High School. He then went on to proudly serve our country as a Marine. After his time in the United States Marine Corps, he worked at Ford Motor Company and then went on to work as a maintenance supervisor at Cedar Point for 43 years. Bernie retired with pride this past January from a career he loved. His Cedar Point family was very special to him. He was a member of the local 480, VFW Post 2529 and American Legion Post 83.
Bernie loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing with his sons and granddaughter's. Bernie was known as a big teddy bear to those that were lucky enough to know him and call him a friend. He took immense pride in being "Papa" to his grandchildren. Bernie's dream was to one day travel to Alaska, unfortunately he left us too soon. His family still plans to honor his wishes and take this trip in his memory.
Bernie is survived by loving wife of 45 years, Jennie (Driscoll) Saylor, children, Brad (Lisa) Saylor and Adam (Ashley) Saylor; grandchildren Olivia, Kenadie, Matthew, Lakelynn and Remi; sister Sue (John) Kane; brother, Bill Saylor; mother-in-law, Ida Driscoll, several nieces, nephews and other relatives; and his loyal companion, Ava.
