Evelyn Y. Ferguson, 89, of Norwalk, formerly of Bellevue, died peacefully at the Norwalk Memorial Home on Thursday, March 2, 2023.
Mrs. Ferguson was born in rural Clyde on April 24, 1933 to the now deceased Dorothy (Dymond) and Ivan Garman, Sr.
She was a member of the 1951 graduating class of Bellevue High School and then Bowling Green State University.
Evelyn was also a member of the Norwalk Alliance Church and a proud member of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society for 52 years. Also, she belonged to the Retired Teachers of Sandusky County.
In October of 1954, she married Ernest Ferguson. Together they owned and operated Ferguson Florist in Bellevue until his death in November 1959.
Mrs. Ferguson was a school teacher, teaching primarily 3rd grade at the former York Elementary until retiring in 1990.
Survivors include two children, Carol (Tom) Forsythe of Murray, Utah and Ronald (Janet) Ferguson of Norwalk. Four grandchildren, Cara, Ashley, Alex and Aaron, eleven great grandchildren, along with one brother, Dale (Linda) Garman of Bellevue and sisters-in-law, Lucy Garman of Sandusky and Barbara Garman of Arcadia, Florida.
Mrs. Ferguson was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jennica in 2000, as well as siblings, Ivan Garman, Jr.; Louis Garman; Harold Garman; Don Garman and Thelma "Sally" Strecker.
Visitation will be on Friday, March 10, 2023 from noon until the funeral service at 1:00 pm at Norwalk Alliance Church: 2755 US 250, Norwalk, Ohio. Burial will be in Flat Rock Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Norwalk Alliance Church of The Salvation Army.
