Ray L. Schnellinger, 94, of Norwalk, passed away, Tuesday afternoon, February 28, 2023, at the Ohio Veterans Home with his loving family by his side.
Ray was born on May 22, 1928, in Norwalk, OH, to the late Alma (Adelman) Schnellinger and Carl Schnellinger.
Ray graduated from St. Paul High School in 1946 and proudly served his country during World War II as a member of the United States Army. He was employed as a union electrician for over 40 years. He was a long-time member of the American Legion, Ohio Nut Grower's Association, and St. Paul Catholic Church. Ray looked forward to meeting with the Buckeye Pub regulars every Saturday morning. In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening, woodworking, family gatherings, and traveling with his wife. Ray will be greatly missed.
Ray is survived by 5 children, Lynn Schnellinger of Norwalk, Gail (Dave) Laird of California, Paula Schnellinger of Norwalk, Mark (Lois) Schnellinger of Willard, and Pat (Beth) Schnellinger of Norwalk; 5 grandchildren, Scott (Andrea), Jennifer (Bobby), Jarod, Cathy, and Karli and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Schnellinger; a daughter in infancy, Kathy, and all 7 of his siblings, Pauline Fisher, Richard Schnellinger, Walt Schnellinger, Sr Carla Schnellinger, Marge Schnellinger, Kenny Schnellinger, and Mary Trares.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, March 7, 2023, at 10:30 am at St. Paul Catholic Church, 91 E. Main Street, Norwalk, OH 44857. The burial will follow at St. Alphonsus Cemetery. Walker-Eastman-Heydinger Funeral Home is honored to assist the family with arrangements.
