Rebekah J. Shannon, 74, of Bellevue passed away Sunday, March 5, 2023 at The Valley View Health Campus in Fremont.
She was born March 30, 1948 in Wheeling, West Virginia the daughter of Harold and Lita (Gerhart) Bailey.
Rebekah was a graduate of Bluffton College where she earned her degree in education. She taught for 10 years at York School in Bellevue, and retired from teaching in 2008 after teaching for 22 years at Pleasant Street Elementary School in Norwalk. She loved to travel especially to the New England states and also enjoyed yearly trips to Williamsburg. She was a member of Grace Community Church in Fremont, and enjoyed gardening, taking care of her flowers, and her beloved dog "Watson".
She is survived by her husband, Thomas Shannon, whom she married April 4, 1971 at Seybert UMC in Bellevue; son, Michael (Kathy) Shannon of Glendale, AZ; and daughter, Betsey Shannon of Palatine, IL.
Rebekah is preceded in death by her parents.
Friends will be received on Wednesday, March 8 from 11 a.m. until a funeral service begins at 1 p.m. at Foos & Foos Funeral Service, 151 Yorkshire Place, Bellevue. Burial will follow at York Chapel Cemetery.
