Patrick "Pat" R. Spettel, 61, of Norwalk, passed away unexpectedly from natural causes on March 3, 2023, at Physicians Regional Medical Center in Naples, Florida.
Pat was born on December 28, 1961, in Boston, Massachusetts to Maureen (McFadden) Spettel and W. Robert Spettel.
The family moved to Cleveland, OH, in 1966 before settling in the Norwalk area. Pat attended and graduated from St. Paul High School as a member of the class of 1980. He began his career in Real Estate at Century 21 in 1983, then Shaffoe Realtors, before joining ReMax in 1994.
Pat enjoyed vacationing in Colorado for ski trips in his youth, and the Naples, Florida area. He enjoyed spending time with his family, including 2 dogs, and countless grand dogs, fishing, wine, and giving back to his community through Catholic Charities, providing housing to people in distressed situations, and as a board member of Huron County Habitat for Humanity. Pat was also a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Richfield Township Appeals Board, Huron County Planning Committee, and National, Ohio, and Firelands Association of Realtors.
Pat is survived by his loving wife, Cari Spettel, whom he married August 22, 1987; sons, Patrick (Leslie) Spettel and grandson, Patrick Franklin Spettel of Norwalk, Mike Spettel of Los Angeles, California, and Andrew (Madeline Metcalf) Spettel of Bradenton, Florida; daughters, Claire (Jared Telecky) Spettel of Akron, and Mary (Ian) Beed and grandson, Arthur David Beed of San Francisco, California; mother, Maureen Spettel of Huron; brothers, Tom (Sandy) Spettel of Columbus, and Sean (Karen) Spettel of Columbus; sisters, Laura (John) Seelie of North Olmsted, Julie (William) Roberts of Norwalk, and Anne (Laurie Utterberg) Spettel of Put-in-Bay, OH, and brother-in-law, Chris (Kathy Stecky) Alltmont of Cleveland. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins whom he cherished.
Pat was preceded in death by his father, W. Robert Spettel; paternal grandparents, W. Robert and Dorothy Spettel; paternal grandmother, Dorothy Belanger, and maternal grandparents, Michael and Pauline McFadden.
A visitation will be held on Monday, March 13, 2023, from 4 pm to 8 pm at Walker-Eastman-Heydinger Funeral Home, 98 W. Main Street, Norwalk, OH 44857. A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, March 14, 2023, at 10:30 am at St. Paul Catholic Church, 91 E. Main Street, Norwalk, OH 44857. A procession and burial will follow at St. Paul Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made directly to the Spettel family. The funds will be utilized to purchase an AED in Pat's memory.
