Ashonti Danay Sanders, 17, Sandusky, has gone to live with the angels after an extended illness, on March 9, 2023.
Ashonti was born April 1, 2005 in Sandusky, Ohio. She is survived by her parents: Mother, Maranda (Morielle Watson) Mayo; Father, Corey Sanders; Dad, Kortland (Julie) Bates; Sister, Alaysha Evans; Brother, Corvante Sanders; Grandmother, Kayshon Bates; and a host of close family and friends. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, paternal grandmother and special cousin, Brittney Crawford.
Ashonti, known affectionately to many as Buggy, would have been in her senior year at Sandusky High School. She loved drawing and was extremely talented. She also loved shopping, especially for shoes. She would light up a room with her beautiful smile. She faced brain cancer with a resilience and fortitude that inspired all who knew her story. She understood cancer would never win because in the end it loses its strength and grace appears. Grace and Love win, not cancer. She loved her family and friends with an unmeasurable amount of unconditional love.
A celebration of Ashonti's life will be at 12 p.m. Friday, March 17, 2023 at Eagles Nest Church, 2126 Pipe St. in Sandusky with Pastor Darrell Gant officiating. Friends and family may call from 10 a.m. until the service begins. Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky, is handling the arrangements.
