JP "Jone" Wilson

JP "Jone" Wilson, 90, Sandusky was born May 20, 1932 in Barr Mississippi to the late Elmo Sr. and Lillian Hardy/Wilson.

He accepted Christ at an early age and was a faithful member of the East Parish Street Church of Christ until death on March 8, 2023.

In 1957, he moved his family to Sandusky Ohio and landed his first job at Carter's Lumber Company. He advanced quickly as a carpenter. He worked with the construction company that built many of Cedar Point roller coasters including the Blue Streak, Mine Ride, the Giant Ferris Wheel, the Gemini, and many more. He helped build several bridges, resorts, and was very proud to be able to work for the company that built the NASA Plum Brook Testing Facility. He retired from Mosser Construction.

JP was known by many nicknames such as Jack, Blackjack, Slim, and Chicken. The neighborhood kids called him Jap or Mr. Wilson. The name that he took the most honor in was being called Brother Wilson. He was a praying man who loved doing service in the church. He was one of the most memorable song leaders at the church, with his favorite song being "No Tears in Heaven". He loved fishing, hunting, gardening, and canning chow chow pickles and pears. He enjoyed all Ohio sports teams; his favorite The Cleveland Indians (Guardians). He loved listening to old southern classic blues and gospel hymns with his niece Jessie Carter. He also enjoyed country music.

He leaves to cherish his memory, six children, Carl E (Sarah) Wilson, Harvey L (Joanne) Wilson, Fannie L (Robert) Parker of Sandusky, Ohio. Audrey (James) Brown of Holly Hill, SC, Freddy M Wilson of Coldwater, Mississippi, companion and best friend Norma McFadden and family, 11 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, 16 great-great-grandchildren, mother of children Hattie Mae Wooten/Wilson; sister-in-law Lillie Wilson, close family members James Cathey, Harvey Wooten, Cousin Earline Rossell , friend, James & Earnestine Davis,great nephew Dwayne Lash, and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

JP was preceded in death by his parents, Elmo and Lillian Hardy/Wilson, son George Wilson, twin granddaughters Anitra & Andrea Caffey Wilson, great grandson Malik McCoy, brothers Roy, Eugene, Hershel, and Elmo Wilson, sisters,Earnestine Jones, and Anna Wooten.

Friends may call on Saturday, march 18, 2023, from 10 A.M. until time of funeral services at 12 P.M. in East Parish Street Church of Christ, 1219 E. Parish St., Sandusky.
