Roosevelt Yates

Roosevelt Yates, 86, of Clyde passed away Tuesday, March 14, 2023, in his home surrounded by his family.

He was born April 7, 1936, in Grundy, Virginia and is the son of George Dewey and Ida Mae (Stiltner) Yates.

One of Roosevelt's favorite quotes was, "There is a good life out there to be made, but it's up to you to make it". Roosevelt lived this philosophy; he built multiple family homes for his wife and children. He retired in 2002 from Ford Motor Company after 42 years of work service. He had a passion for wood working, creating many grandfather clocks, outside swings, benches, bookcases, tables, and a guitar.

Roosevelt was a devoted husband and father to his wife and four children: Sandra Stanley of Huron, Sheila Buchanan of Bellevue, Linda Sue Yates of Clyde, and Crystal Kessler (Larry) of Castalia; 11 grandchildren: Derrick (Crystal) Yates, Greg (Keisha) Blankenship, Adam (Robyn) Blankenship, Anthony (Crystal) Ellison, Josh Mears, Michael Smithson, Taylor Kessler, Alexis Kessler, Larry Kessler and Addyson Kessler; 11 great-grandchildren; siblings: Elzie Yates of Florida, John Henry Yates of Ohio, Jerry Yates of Virginia, and Leon Yates of Virginia.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Orpha Yates; 9 siblings and grandson Jesse Ellison.
