Norman Albert Stierhoff

Norman Albert Stierhoff, 86, of Castalia, passed away following a brief illness on Thursday March 16, 2023, at home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on June 2, 1936 in Milan, Ohio to George and Ruth (Trott) Stierhoff.

He was a lifelong resident of Sandusky and Castalia. He received an honorary diploma from Sandusky High School on June 9, 2014. He was married on September 15, 1962 in Blackberry Corner, Ohio to the love of his life F. Ruby Ellen (Wilburn); They have been married for 60 years.

He is survived by his wife Ruby, 5 sons: Bradley (Annette), Rex (Charlene), Craig (Betsy) of Castalia; Todd of Amherst; Paul of Fremont, one daughter: Amy of Castalia, 14 Grandchildren: Justin, Jade, Jenna, Shelby, Jacob (Amy), Douglas, C.J., Kimberly Rose, Austin, Hannah, Dominic, Chase, Landon, and Hemi. 5 great-grandchildren: Carson, Charlee, Brynlee, Jameson, and Zoe. Sister in-laws: Sandra Stierhoff, Freida Stierhoff, Irene Ray and Mable Royster. Brother in-laws: Oris (Annette) Wilburn, Dick (Carol) Wilburn, and God Daughter Becky Wilburn, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and special friends.

Preceded in death by parents George and Ruth (Trott) Stierhoff, Siblings; Harold and Dawn, Paul and Florence, Don (Duck), Jim, and Doris Stierhoff. Carl and Florence Heiser, Janet Juntunen, Neil and Maribell Bauman. In laws Bob and Eunince Edwards, Sherd Ray, David and Rheva Wilburn, and Willard Royster.

Norm and Paul owned and operated Stierhoff Brothers Moving and Cartage (Sandusky, Ohio), E-Z Moving and Storage (Lorain, Ohio), and Lytle Transfer and Storage (Findlay, Ohio).

Norm was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church (Venice Heights) where he had served on church council and served as a former church council president, he was an usher and served on the call committee. He was a member of the V II dartball team, and the Trinity bowling team.

Norm was an agent with Atlas Van Lines and a member of the Sandusky Exchange Club.

Norm loved playing cards with family and friends, going to toy shows, collecting vintage toy trucks, and completing word searches. Norm also enjoyed attending events for his grandchildren. He was an avid Cincinnati Bengals and Cleveland Indians fan and liked to watch WWE wrestling on TV.

Friends may call on Tuesday March 21, 2023 from 2pm- 4pm and from 6pm- 8pm at Groff Funeral Home and Crematory, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky, Ohio. Funeral services will be on Wednesday March 22, 2023 at 10am at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 502 Bardshar Rd, Sandusky. Rev. Ralph Schibler will officiate. Burial will follow in Castalia Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers those wishing to make memorials in Norman's memory may contribute to Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Alzheimer's Association, Back to the Wild-Castalia, or Wounded Warriors Foundation.

The family would like to give a special thank you to the Firelands Hospital ICU Staff and Doctors and to our cousin and EOL Doula Cathy Myerholtz for all the help caring for our Dad during his final days.
