Gary L. Denne, 86, of Huron passed away Tuesday, March 21, 2023, following a brief illness.
He was born February 21, 1937, in Cleveland, Ohio.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Huron, OH. Gary was a 1955 graduate of Fairview High School. A talented athlete, he lettered in football, basketball, track, and wrestling and was awarded 1955's Outstanding Letterman. In 2014, he was inducted into Fairview High School's Athletic Hall of Fame. He was also a 1959 graduate of The Ohio State University with a degree in Horticulture and Landscape Design. He went on to own and operate his own landscaping business, Denne Landscaping. He had also been employed by NASA Plumbrook Station and Ford Motor Company, retiring in October 2000. He loved singing in his church choir and various area choirs, including Firelands Symphony Chorale, the Lorain Barbershop Chorus, and the Independence Barbershop Chorus. Along with his love of music, he was an avid OSU Buckeye fan and he enjoyed gardening and spending time with his family, neighbors, and friends.
Gary is survived by his three daughters, Diane Woodruff and Ellen (Dale) Coffman of Sandusky, Ohio, and Lynda (Ryan) Adkins of Vermilion, Ohio, grandchildren Michael (Elana) Walton, Kelli Lottman, Jessica Woodruff, Joseph (Marlene) Adkins, and Rachel Adkins, great grandsons Ethan and Connor Walton, and brother Ronald (Betty) Denne of Naples Florida, as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dotti (Bullock) Denne, parents Lynn and Martha (Johnson) Denne, and brother Bruce Denne.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 28, 2023, at Groff Funeral Home, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky, OH. Funeral Services will take place at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, March 29, 2023, at The United Methodist Church 338 Williams St., Huron, OH. Pastor Pamela J. Sayre will officiate. Burial will follow at Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron, OH.
