Dale L. Weyer, Sr., 87, residing in Monroeville, passed away Thursday, March 23, 2023 at Randall Residence of Fremont after a lengthy illness.
Dale was born on July 6, 1935 in Sandusky, OH to the late Milton and Marie (Wobser) Weyer.
Dale attended St. Mary's High School and was a Veteran of the Marine Reserves. He was employed as a truck driver for various trucking companies throughout his life, and eventually was the owner and operator of his own truck, driving for K&P Trucking. Dale was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church in Sandusky and the Teamsters Trucking Union. He loved farming, Westerns and horses, and was always tinkering and restoring old tractors. He was a patriotic and hardworking American who was fiercely loyal to his family, friends and country. Dale led by example and never complained. He was always willing to help anyone in need. He will be remembered fondly by his family and friends, and for the numerous awards he won playing the accordion.
Dale is survived by his children, Charles (Rhonda) Weyer of Green Springs, OH, Cynthia (Charles) Canterbury of VA, and Timothy (Karen) Weyer of SC; 10 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Milton E. (Carol) Weyer of Castalia, OH and Ronald (Sandy) Weyer of NV; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
In addition to his parents, Dale is preceded in death by wife, Betty J. Weyer in 2021; son, Dale Weyer Jr.; and brother, Eugene "Butch" Weyer.
A graveside service will be held at Calvary Cemetery in Sandusky on Thursday, March 30, 2023 at 10am with Deacon Bill Burch presiding. Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory in Sandusky is assisting the family with arrangements.
