Herbert Prongay

Herbert Prongay, 93, residing in Norwalk, passed away April 6, 2023, at Norwalk Memorial Home surrounded by his loving family.

Herbert was born in Jamestown, New York, on June 12, 1929, to the late Mary Eunice (Allard) Prongay and Herbert L. Prongay. He graduated from high school in Jamestown, New York. Herbert furthered his education at Kent State University and Westminster College in Missouri, receiving his undergraduate and master's degrees. He married Elsie Prongay on December 26, 1955. Herbert moved his young family to Huron in 1973. He was an accountant for Faulhaber, working for over 20 years before retiring in 1995. He was an enrolled agent and CPA. Herbert was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church and a past president of the Huron Lions Club. In his spare time, he enjoyed traveling, camping, and golfing. Herbert's greatest joy of all was spending time with his family.

Herbert is survived by his 4 children, Linda (Lloyd) Long of Elmore, Julie (Timothy) Swavely of Lorain, Ann (Michael) Adams of Norwalk, and Karen (Albert) Terenzi of Huron; 6 grandchildren, Melanie (Jason) Moore, Lisa (Luke) Twarek, Suzanne (Ray) Bucalo, Theresa (Mike) Clinker, Jennifer (Andrew) Kilbride, Bryan (Shannon) Adams, and 9 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Herbert was preceded in death by his loving wife, Elsie Prongay, who passed in 2021.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 11, 2023, from 10 am until the time of funeral service at 11 am at St. Peter Lutheran Church, 243 Benedict Avenue, Norwalk, OH 44857. Pastor Ann Marshall will be presiding. Burial will follow at a later date at Milan Cemetery. Walker-Eastman-Heydinger Funeral Home is honored to assist the family with arrangements.

The family of Herbert Prongay would like to express their sincere gratitude for the compassionate care provided by the Norwalk Memorial Home and Southern Care Hospice. He was loved by all those who provided direct support to him, which was very reassuring to his family.
