Dennis J. Stelzer, Sr.

Dennis J. Stelzer, Sr., 87, residing in Milan, passed away Tuesday, April 25, 2023 after a lengthy illness.

He was born on August 18, 1935 in Lorain, OH to the late Frank and Janet (Hasson) Stelzer.

Dennis graduated from Lorain High School and was a graduate of Cleveland Engineering Institute. He was a US Navy Veteran, who proudly served his country. He was an Cost Engineer at Tennaco for 25 years and had worked at the General Motors Tank Plant for 10 years. Dennis was a member of Norwalk First United Methodist Church. Along with the love of his life, Geri, his most valued possession was his family. He enjoyed traveling, spending winters in Florida, camping, fishing, playing chess, making homemade wine, and ballroom dancing. Dennis was an avid sailor, HAM radio operator and volunteered many years as a scout leader.

Dennis is survived by his wife, Geraldine (Northam) Stelzer, whom he married on October 24, 1959. He is also survived by his daughter, Ann (Dale) Hamilton of Clarksfield, OH, sons, Dennis Stelzer, Jr. of Otsego, MI, William (Julie) Stelzer of Milan, OH, David (Christine) Stelzer of Huron, OH, twelve Grandchildren, ten Great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

In addition to his parents, Dennis is preceded in death by daughter-in-law, Patty Stelzer, brother, Frank Stelzer and sisters, Denise Stelzer and Matilda Mooter .

Friends may call on Saturday, April 29, 2023 from 10:00 am until time of funeral service at 11:00 am at the Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, One South Main Street, Milan, OH. Rev. Dr. Brian Ogelsby will officiate. Burial will follow in Milan Cemetery, Milan, OH.
