Marilyn R. Pheiffer

Marilyn R. Pheiffer, 72, after fighting a valiant, brief battle with leukemia passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, April 26, 2023.

Marilyn was born in Shelby, Ohio on September 14, 1950, to the late Paul and Clara Cramer. She spent the majority of her childhood growing up in the North Auburn area prior to her move to Norwalk during her high school years (Monroeville graduate 1968).

Marilyn's real and abiding passion was her family and friends. She sought to instill in her loved ones a commitment and concern to those close to her and those she met briefly along the way always wielding the power of a smile. Marilyn was a perfect example of a woman who truly gave of herself and never asked for anything in return. She lived life doing what was right and just and was the epitome of being kind and compassionate to one another. She leaves a legacy for others to emulate as she possessed a quiet strength of support and encouragement while always at the ready with tenderness and wisdom. Her hands were rarely idle as she was known for her extraordinary knack for crafts, Christmas decorating, sewing, interior design and her famous inch-high frosted cookies.

Along with her talent as a homemaker, Marilyn possessed a true servant's heart in her other occupations. Her love of children was evident as a kindergarten aide for many years at St. Joseph Catholic School in Monroeville. She relished her role guiding and shaping her young students throughout the years with many remembering her role in their lives still today. In later years, she enjoyed working in the medical field at Norwalk Family Practice aiding those in need of care and assistance never feeling each day was a job but instead a calling.

She lived her life devoted to her strong Catholic faith and held a special devotion to our Blessed Mother never missing her twice daily rosary. Marilyn was a parishioner of St. Alphonsus Liguori Catholic Church and in prior years served in various ministries at St. Joseph in Monroeville. Time spent with family was her most treasured possession whether it was Disney World vacations, holiday celebrations, Outer Bank beaches, girls trip shopping marathons, or following her cherished only grandson Griffin's numerous activities.

Marilyn married the love of her life and soulmate Richard Pheiffer on April 25, 1970 and relished 52 years of marriage devotion until he left her loving arms 4 months ago in December 2022. She was also preceded in death by her parents Paul and Clara Cramer (Adelman), stepfather Paul Adelman along with her beloved in-laws Louis and Agnes Pheiffer.

Marilyn is survived by her daughter Nickie (Pat) Schwan and grandson Griffin Schwan of Norwalk. A sister Paula Cramer and brother Eric (Becky) Adelman along with niece Jessica (Aaron) Naylor and nephew Derek Adelman all of Norwalk. Sister-in-law RuthAnn Sabiers (French) Leger of Santa Fe and nephew Ben Sabiers of New York City.

The family will receive visitors on Friday, May 5 from 3-7 pm at Walker Eastman Heydinger Funeral Home, 98 West Main Street Norwalk. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Alphonsus Liguori Catholic Church on Saturday, May 6 at 10:30am with Father Chris Jesudhason presiding.
