Geraldine McLendon, 58, Sandusky, died unexpectedly on Saturday, September 25, 2010, at her residence.
She was born on January 4, 1952 in Shubuta, Mississippi. She graduated from Sandusky High School in 1970. She received her nursing degree from School of Nursing in Detroit, MI, and worked as a Registered Nurse at various hospitals. She enjoyed reading, social gatherings, football, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.
Geraldine is survived by her mother, Lula Mae (Lofton) McLendon, Sandusky; one daughter, Geralyn "Jeannie" Thomas, Erie, PA; two sons, William "Jerelle" Franklin, Sandusky, and Corey McLendon, Erie, PA; seven grandchildren, Aaviona Franklin, Jayden McLendon, Jarren McLendon, Iverson Franklin, Kobe Franklin, LeBron Franklin, and Iyonna McLendon; two brothers, James Earl McLendon, Chicago, IL, and John (Michelle) McLendon, Cleveland, OH; two sisters, Barbara (Joseph) Evans, Erie, PA, and Donna (Jerry, Sr.) Taylor, Sandusky; seven nieces and nephews; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, John W. McLendon: brother, Larry McLendon: paternal grandparents, Charlie and Lillie (Powe) McLendon; and her maternal grandmother, Bessie Lofton.
Friends may call on Saturday, October 2, 2010 from 10 A.M. until time of funeral services at 12 Noon at Porters Memorial CME Church, 1722 Third St., Sandusky. Rev. Kerrin Robinson will officiate.
