John P. "JP" Caffey, Sr., 81, Sandusky, went home to be with the Lord, Sunday, April 8, 2012, in Firelands Regional Medical Center.
He was born on February 25, 1931 in Belzoni, MS.
He was employed by G & C Foundry, General Motors, and retired from Ford Motor Co. in 1995 after 30 years of service.
JP was a faithful member of New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church, where he was a member of the Male Chorus. He was also a Mason.
He is survived by his children, John L. (Marty) Jefferson, and Willie Caffey, both of Louisville, KY, Sherman (Joyce) Caffey, Patrick Caffey, Sylvia Kately, and Cynthia Gowdy, all of Sandusky, Steve (Lisa) Caffey, Nashville, TN, Darnell Caffey, Long Beach, CA, and Nicole (Jeff) Lewis, Lorain, OH; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Lorine Alexander; host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucinda "Peaches" Caffey; parents, Goldstein and Roberta (Williams) Caffey Sr.; sons, John Caffey, Jr., and Bernard Caffey; daughter, Patricia Caffey; sisters, Irutha Harris, Rosie Willis, and Mattie Aaron; and a brother, Goldstein Caffey, Jr.
Friends may call on Sunday, April 15, 2012, from 7-9 P.M. in New Jerusalem Baptist Church, 1920 Eddie Henry Way, Sandusky. Funeral services will be held Monday at 1 P.M. in the church, with the Rev. Curtis L. Johnson, Jr., officiating. Entombment will be in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron. Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky, is assisting the family with arrangements.
