Barbara J. Schoen, 80, of Bellevue, died Wednesday, May 17, 2023 at her home.
She was born February 24, 1943 in Conneaut, Ohio to Harold "Bud" & Edith Rosalie (Smith) Thompson.
She enjoyed her many years of working with the children at Happy Hearts and Christie Lane. She was blessed with the gift of connecting with children, especially those with disabilities. Barbara was a life member of the MOOSE. She loved gardening and was a gifted seamstress, but above all, she loved to be surrounded by family.
On January 24, 1992 she married N. Michael "Mick" Schoen. He preceded her in death on April 11, 2023.
Barbara is survived by her children: Stacey O'Connor-Post (Roger) of Sugarland, Texas and Steven (Faye) Miller of Ashtabula; step-children: Susan Schoen of Columbus; Michael (Debbie) Schoen of Tiffin; Leigh Ann (Larry Stein) Aigler of Bellevue; Steven (Kathy) Schoen of Bellevue; Patricia Schoen of Columbus; Marc (Marianne) Schoen of Bellevue; Joan (Mark) Kaufman of Bellevue; Daniel (Renee) Schoen of Bellevue; Rodger (Angela) Schoen of Bellevue; 23 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; her sister, Linda K. Thompson of Ashtabula; and sister-in-law, Denise Dobbins Thompson of Marshall, Texas.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Barbara was preceded in death by her brother, James R. Thompson; sister, Patricia Cotton; step-son, Jeffery Schoen; and great-granddaughter, Marley Frey.
Visitation will be 4-6:30pm Friday, May 26, 2023 at the Auxter Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 1105 Castalia St, Bellevue, Ohio 44811. Graveside services will be held 1:30pm Saturday, May 27, 2023 at Greenlawn Memory Gardens, 3140 E. Center St, North Kingsville, Ohio 44068.
Memorials may be given to the American Diabetes Association or the American Heart Association.
