Jose R. Rodriguez, age 76 of Clyde, passed away Sunday, May 21, 2023, at Heritage Village in Clyde.
Jose was born March 26, 1947, in Laredo, TX, the son of the late Enrique and Martina (Ramos) Rodriguez.
He went to Clyde High School and played on the football team as running back. He was #24.
Jose served in the United States Marine Corp. He was a Vietnam vet doing a tour from 1968-1969.
Later he served in the Air National Guard with the 200th Red Horse Squadron out of Camp Perry in the 80's into the 2000's. Where he served in Operation Enduring Freedom in response to the September 11th terrorist attacks.
Jose's life revolved around his family. He loved spending time with his wife doing whatever the day brought them. They were inseparable. His daughter can remember where her and her father spent many Sundays together watching the Browns. He coached his sons in various leagues in Clyde. He coached in little league, pony league, flag football and continued coaching in men's softball league. Later when the grandkids came, he loved watching their various activities and spending time with them. He loved spending time with his mother, sisters and brother and extended family often prompting a family get-together just to celebrate family. Jose and family would often travel to Laredo to visit their father and grandfather.
He was an avid Browns, Indians and Buckeye fan.
His hobbies were golfing, bowling, shooting and fishing. He loved camping, traveling and watching movies.
He was a good man. He was a loving husband and an excellent father. He loved all his grandchildren. There were no favorites. We were all his favorites.
Jose is survived by his wife, Patricia (Garcia) Rodriguez, of Clyde, whom he married September 19, 1970; children: Jovita (Tom) Gase of Tiffin, Joe Rodriguez of Clyde, and John Paul Rodriguez of Clyde; grandchildren: Jesse (Amanda), Jaron, Joshua, Keanu, Alycia, Achilles, Dominic, Wyatt, John Paul, Wesley, and Izan (Ileia); 1 great-granddaughter due in July; and siblings: Enrique (Mary) Rodriguez, Jr, of Avon, Mary Cunningham, Jovita Rodriguez, Lupe (Arnold) Tejerina, and Janie (Rick) Runion, all of Clyde.
In addition to his parents, Jose is preceded in death by his son, Israel Rodriguez.
Friends will be received on Friday, May 26, 2023, from 6-8:00pm with a rosary being recited at 7:45pm at Foos Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 504 E. McPherson Hwy, Clyde, OH 43410. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, May 27, 2023, at 10:30am at St. Mary Catholic Church, 609 Vine St, Clyde, OH 43410. Burial and military honors will follow at McPherson Cemetery, Clyde.
