Leroy Miller

Leroy Miller, 89, of Bellevue passed away Wednesday, May 31, 2023, at his home.

He was born June 21, 1933, in Marywood, Ohio, the son of Roman Sr. and Laura (Bauman) Miller.

In addition to his parents Leroy is preceded in death by his wife, Barbara A. (Schaffer) Miller and his siblings, Roman Miller Jr., Gerald Miller, and Rose Acree.

He is survived by his four sons: Timothy (Nancy) Miller of Canton, Kevin (Kathy) Miller of Bowling Green, Keith (Sally Jo) Miller of Van Horn, Texas, and Chris (Susi) Miller of Indian Mound, TN; three daughters: Dianne (Mark) Kessler of Republic, Geralyn Phillips of Willard, and Tricia (Tim) Wollenslegel of Sandusky; 24 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren with one expected; 1 expected great-great grandchild; and sister, Marlene (Tootie) Didion of Bellevue.

Leroy graduated from Thompson High School in 1952. He married Barbara on Sept 4, 1954, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Monroeville. They met in 1952 at Barb's sister's wedding and it was love at first sight since they came with others but left together.

Growing up he worked on the family farm. In his youth he was an altar boy for St. Michael's church and the Sorrowful Mother Shrine. He worked at the Havana, Omar, and Frank elevators, the former Johnson Furnace, and General Motors Powertrain in Toledo, where he retired in 1999. He was a member of The Bellevue Eagles and St. Gaspar del Buffalo church.

He had a great sense of humor and loved playing jokes on his family. He had many hobbies including beekeeping, woodworking, deer hunting and golf to name a few. He loved to go camping with family, visit auctions and go to flea market. He was the only man that we knew who loved to shop. He loved to socialize, dance, and listen to music, especially Molly B Polka party. He also loved watching RFD TV. His kids describe him as "the greatest man we knew".

The family would like to recognize his Special Friend, Carol Guice, for her warm, joyful and special companionship that she provided over the past 10 years with Leroy. Also, a big thanks to Ron and Collette Brown for being wonderful next door neighbors helping him with chores around the house over the years.

Friends will be received on Friday, June 9, 2023 from 2-6 p.m. at Foos & Foos Funeral Service, 151 Yorkshire Place, Bellevue where the Rosary will begin at 1: 30 p.m. A funeral Mass will begin on Saturday June 10, 2023 at 10 a.m. at St. Gaspar del Buffalo Church, 16209 CR 46, Bellevue.
