Sandra Ann (Massey) Freeman, 79, of Vermilion, passed away Wednesday, June 7, 2023 at Stein Hospice Care Center after a brief battle with cancer.
She was born on August 27, 1943 in Coeburn, Virginia to Flavil and Bertha (Meade) Massey.
Sandra grew up in Berlin Heights, and after marriage was a wonderful homemaker, taking care of her loving family. She always put others before herself. In her spare time, she enjoyed flowers and gardening, canning and cooking, and was an avid bowler, being inducted in the Sandusky Bowling Association Hall of Fame just this past April 15. She loved being with her family the most, and she lavished them with wonderful gifts often.
Sandra is survived by her husband, Raymond Freeman, whom she married on November 7, 1959; daughters, Lisa Weaver, and Sonya (Leroy Sizemore) Phelps, both of Sandusky; sons, Dennis (Darla) Freeman, of Lorain, Robert (Leslie) Freeman, of Monroeville, and Gary (Angela) Freeman, of Wakeman; grandchildren, James (Dawn) Verhovec, Stephanie (Ben) Mayse, Brittany Freeman, Tera (Brian) Licata, Kristin (Jayme) McMillan, Ashley Phelps, Guerin Phelps, Zach (Allyson) Phelps, Troy (Kandice) Phelps, Andrew (Allie) Cline, Natasha (Jermaine) Jones, and Leroy Sizemore; 23 great-grandchildren; sister, Phyllis (Ben) Nickoli; brothers, Roger (Kayra) Massey and Ed (Jackie) Massey; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
In addition to her parents, Sandra was preceded in death by her sister, Freda Winebarger; and brother, Walter Massey.
Friends may call on Tuesday, June 13 from 4-6 P.M. at Toft Funeral Home, Hinman Chapel, 38 South St., Berlin Heights. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 14 at 11 A.M. at Sandusky Church of God, 1018 W. Bogart Rd., Sandusky, with one hour of visitation prior (10-11 A.M.). Revs. Sam and Harvey Studer will officiate. Burial will follow at Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
