Elaine M. Maillard, 98, residing in Sandusky, passed away peacefully, Sunday, June 18, 2023 at Firelands Regional Medical Center.
Elaine was born on May 22, 1925 in Sandusky to the late William H. and Irene C. (Behrendsen) Leibacher.
Elaine graduated from Sandusky High School and was a secretary for The Boy Scouts of America for many years. Elaine was a member of the VFW Auxiliary. In her spare time, she enjoyed golf and bowling leagues. She loved to travel, especially taking cruises, and looked forward to wintering in Florida. Most of all, she enjoyed time with her family.
Elaine is survived by her husband, LeRoy J. Maillard, whom she married on January 21, 1961. She is also survived by her son, John (Barb) Maillard; daughter, Mary (Jeff) Wadsworth; five grandchildren, Trisha (John) Eblin, Doug Cooper, Elizabeth Maillard, Brent (Tiffany) Maillard and Molly (Todd) Suarez; eight great-grandchildren, Haley, Brendan and Cassidy Eblin, Gage Byington, Ava, Tate and Zeke Maillard, and Sam Suarez; sister, Judy (Richard) Bechtel; brother, Jerry (Becky) Leibacher; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
In addition to her parents, Elaine is preceded in death by her daughter, Susan Hood in 1990; brother, James Leibacher, Sr.; and infant siblings, John W. and Mary June Leibacher.
Friends may call from 10:00 am until time of funeral service at 12:00 pm on Thursday, June 22, 2023 at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E Perkins Ave, Sandusky with Pastor Stacy Lauer-Scovanner presiding. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery, Sandusky.
