Theresa A. "Terry" Ricci

Theresa A. "Terry" Ricci, age 95 of Bellevue, passed away Monday, June 19, 2023, at The Willows of Bellevue.

Terry was born July 26, 1927, in Bellevue, the daughter of the late Charles and Grace Sberna Giammo.

Theresa Ann Sberna Ricci was the tough third daughter of immigrants, the first to live beyond babyhood, named Theresa as her two late sisters before her. The mother of nine children, grandmother of 23, great grandmother("Gram-gram") of 38 and great great grandmother of 2! She was strong and perceptive. She had great Faith. Like her mother before her, she was independent and sharp as a tack until she passed. Terry was everyone's mom and everyone's Gram. She loved her family fiercely and if you sat in her kitchen to eat one of her amazing Sicilian meals, you were family, so she loved you too. She didn't know her grandmother, because she was back in Sicily, and always wanted to be an amazing grandma because of that. She truly was. She loved and accepted each of us for who we were, and always knew what was going on in our lives. A visit was always enjoyable as we knew we'd hear "there's lentil soup (or little bead soup) in the fridge" and get to hear one of her (sometimes long!) stories. Our hearts want more stories. We want another hug and "I love you darling." We want to go to her house and see her standing at the counter eating her lunch with a cold cup of coffee in the microwave. Selfishly, we want more time, but we know it would never be enough. She was our anchor, our northern star, our home, and we will feel directionless for awhile as we learn to live without her. But she deeply missed Papa, she has spent too many years with that pain. We can only imagine the joy and peace she felt to be with Papa again, reunite with her family and friends, and finally meet her God. So we will let her go with minds full of memories and hearts broken but full of love for her. We will live her legacy with our own families, each taking with us a bit of who she was. We ask that today you think of her, and all that she was, and "Make it a great day!"

Terry is survived by her children: Susan (Mike) Schindley of Monroeville, Grace (Rusty) Zeller of Sandusky, Monica (Kim) Sharp of Bellevue, Sharon Lewis of Bellevue, Marcia (Jeff) Paulin of Huber Heights, Gina Flores of Fremont, Mary (Jeff) Engelhart of Bellevue, Michael (Melinda) Ricci of Sandusky, and Jamie (Paul) Russo of New Baltimore, MI; 23 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Sam Sberna; sister, Jo Haynes; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Terry is preceded in death by her husband, Augustine "Bud" Ricci, whom she married September 5, 1949, in Bellevue; siblings: Mary Capara and Jim Sberna; son-in-law, Bill Lewis; grandson, Jeff Hayward; and brother-in-law, Gary Haynes.

Friends will be received Monday, June 26, 2023, from 2-4 & 6-8pm at Foos and Foos Funeral Service, 151 Yorkshire Pl, Bellevue, OH 44811. A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, June 27, 2023, at 11:00am at Immaculate Conception Church, 231 East Center St. Bellevue, Ohio 44811. Burial will follow at Bellevue Catholic Cemetery.
