Marjorie Ann Hurst

Marjorie Ann Hurst, 87, of Norwalk, passed away peacefully Sunday, June 25, 2023 surrounded by her family.

She was born August 14, 1935, in Norwalk, to Russell and Ruth Davis Seiling. Marjorie married Alvin Hurst, Sr. on January 18, 1953, and together they raised a family of 10 children.

Marjorie worked alongside her husband on their grain and livestock farm as well as in housekeeping, laundry, and patient care in local nursing homes. She was an avid reader and enjoyed embroidering projects for family members. She also enjoyed bird watching. Her devotion to her Bible study and her Lord Jesus Christ was unparalleled, and her life reflected the love she believed we are to demonstrate to each other.

She is survived by five sons, James Hurst of Norwalk, Mikel (Janie) Hurst of Winchester, Kentucky, Russell (Jeanie) Hurst of Shreve, Mark (Sherry) Hurst of Wooster, and Matthe (Betsy) Hurst of Elyria; four daughters, Jenny Hurst of Norwalk, Karen (David) Higgins of Lexington, Christine (Tracy) Jones of Mansfield, and Cindy (Tim) Brown of Shelby; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great great-grandchildren ; and several nieces and nephews.

Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband Alvin Brian Hurst, Sr.; parents, Ruth and Daniel McDonald and Russell Seiling; son Alvin Brian Hurst Jr.; sister Nancy Oney; and brother James Seiling.

The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the staff of Twilight Gardens Nursing Center of Norwalk and Southern Care Hospice of Milan. The loving care and support of our mother is greatly appreciated.

Friends may call on Thursday, June 29, 2023 from 10:00 am until the time of the service at 11:00 am at Toft Funeral Home, Wakeman Chapel, 16 Cooper Street, Wakeman with Chaplain Mel Sayler presiding. Burial will follow in Wakeman Cemetery.
