Philip John Weglicki, age 62, of Norwalk, passed away Wednesday, May 02, 2012 at his residence.
He was born September 16, 1949 in Cleveland to the late Theodore and Geraldine (Kemski) Weglicki. He attended Strongsville High School and served in the US Marine Corps during Vietnam. He was a Lance Corporal decorated with honors: National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service and Combat Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry and the Naval Commendation Medal. He was a train conductor over 20 years for the Norfolk-Southern Railroad. He enjoyed traveling and trips on his motorcycle, tinkering and restoring cars, fishing, waterskiing and boating. He enjoyed showing, training and breeding horses and was a member of the Norwalk VFW Post 2743.
He is survived by his wife and loving companion for over 40 years, Judith Weglicki of Norwalk; daughters and sons-in-law, Dawn and Nick Sarr of Collins, and Michelle and Rich Anderson of Norwalk; grandchildren, Bryan Combs, Dustin Anderson, Amanda Combs and Colton Anderson; sister, Nancy (Ed) Wright of Garfield Heights; brothers, Theodore (Terry) Weglicki of Strongsville and Ronald (Sue) Weglicki of Amherst; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister in infancy, Linda Lee.
Friends may call on Sunday from 3:00 to 5:00 P.M. at the Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk, OH. A military graveside service will be held Monday, May 7, 2012 at 10:30 A.M. at the Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, Ohio. A Celebration of Phil's life will be held on Sunday, May 13, 2012 at 1:00 P.M. at the Huron County Fair Grounds.
