Steven D. Sidoti

Steven D. Sidoti, 73, of Sandusky, was called to heaven on June 27, 2023, after a courageous battle with Parkinson's Disease.

Steve was born on December 2, 1949 in Sandusky, OH, and was a 1968 graduate of Perkins High School, where he set the school's long jump record of 22 feet and 10 3/4 inches - a record that stood for 54 years. He also excelled on the hardwood and concluded his high school basketball career as the school's all-time leading scorer. He continued his track career with a scholarship at the University of Akron where he graduated in 1973. He was hired by Perkins Schools in 1973 as a P.E. teacher at Meadowlawn School. In 1975, he took a position with the U.S. Postal Service where he was a dedicated mail carrier for over 35 years.

Most importantly, Steve was a devoted husband and father who never went anywhere without his children in tow. He took an interest in all of his children and grandchildren's activities and never missed an event. Steve had a passion for all-things athletics. He was a long time youth little league coach and Ohio Veteran's Home softball player. He also participated in the Ohio Olympic Games. He was an avid collector of sports memorabilia and enjoyed visiting various MLB stadiums. In 2020, he was inducted into the Perkins Hall of Fame.

Steve is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Betti (Sosa) Sidoti; his children, Daniel (Kim) Steele, Tina (Brian) Gilbert, Babe (Andrew) Palmer, and A.J. Sidoti; siblings, David (Sherri) Sidoti and Silvia Sidoti; and grandchildren, Vanessa, Lauren, Cameron, Sophie, Josh, Autumn, Jacob, Max, Jake, Skylar, Meadow, Alex, Augie, and Westyn; as well as 12 great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Mildred (Swain) and Anthony Sidoti; brother, Tony Sidoti; and grandson, Michael Maschari.

Friends may call Friday, June 30, 2023, from 6 PM until time of services starting at 6:30 PM at Father's Heart Family Church, 2211 Mills St., Sandusky. Fellowship will follow after the service. Pastor Tony Robinson will officiate. Ransom Funeral & Cremation Service, Castalia, is in charge of the arrangements.
